126th anniversary of Teresópolis: a month of celebration

The First Baptist Church Orchestra and Choir		 As an animated celebration, July is time to party and solemnities in Teresópolis. It is the city’s anniversary: founded on 6th July, 1891 by the Portuguese-British George March, Teresópolis will be 126 years old this year and there will be a traditional civic parade including several public school students, an exposition of antique cars and also religious cerimonies.

Huge two-day spectacles will be open air at Luis de Camões Olympic Square celebrating the 126th anniversary of the city’s foundation. Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra will perform some concerts at Luis de Camões Olympic Square on 15th July, 2017 as part of Teresópolis foundation’s festivities (since 1891 by George March). There will be two-day cultural activities about environmental issues. Founded in 1972, by maestro Armando Prazeres, Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra has a commitment to interprete the traditional symphony under a Brazilian and current point of view, approaching the orchestra to a new public. The First Baptist Church Orchestra and Choir, however, began its formation in 2004 (during musical theory and instrument first classes) in order to provide performances at the church. Excellence is the mark of both institutions.

 Ballet students, who study free at Casa de Cultura Adolpho Bloch (Adolpho Bloch Cultural Centre), join the 8th Barra’s Dance Festival at Fashion Mall Theatre, in Gávea (from 10th to 11th June).

Ten ballet dancers from a free-intermediate level (the most advanced group) from Bureau of Culture will join the 8th Barra’s Dance Festival in Rio in June.
It will happen at Fashion Mall Theatre, in Gavea on 10th and 11th June, 2017. The girls from Teresópolis will perform on the 11th.
The group, headed by Júlia Astori, has the support of Georgia Jahara, who said: “It’s wonderful because the group will not only represent Casa de Cultura, but also Teresopolis City Hall’s effort and the quality of its course. It’s a unique opportunity”.

enc_sanf2		 At about fifteen accordion players from Teresópolis and other cities nearby will perform on 10th June, 2017 at the twelfth Accordion Players Meeting at Calçada da Fama. With performances and production from Cândido Neto, a musician and teacher, the event will happen from 4 pm to 7 pm. A promise of entertainment to the
city center.
“The Meeting started in 2006, idealized by me, in the Santa Teresa Square bandstand. Then, it took place at the Calçada da Fama, and later, in SESC. Our aim is to recover our regional great accordion players, with their different styles, as Amado Rodrigues, Batista do Forró, from São José do Vale do Rio Preto, etc”, said Cândido. According to him, great professionals as Renato Borghetti, Toninho Ferragutti, Marcelo Caldi and Bebê Krammer has already participated on the event. “In 2013, the Meeting was launched by the singer
Amelinha, and in 2014, by Elba Ramalho”, said the accordion instructor.
